PGG WRIGHTSON SEEDS
Construction of a two-level architectural office building for Ngai Tahu Property Ltd specifically designed for the tenant PGG Wrightson Seeds.
Hanham & Philp Contractors were engaged by Ngai Tahu Property on a fixed lump sum contract following budget estimates and agreement to negotiate the project on an open book basis fixing P&G and Contractors Margin. All budget detail was independently reviewed by the Principal’s Quantity Surveyor.
The nature of the site required careful programming, close co-ordination and staged works to minimise impacts on the adjacent AgResearch building and the neighbouring residential properties. The siteworks package also altered the main entrance and exit for AgResearch.
A key challenge on this project was the mechanical services design being not fully co-ordinated with the structure. Our Site Manager worked with the consultant team to detect clashes via BIM modelling to confirm the extent of issues. We worked in detail with the consultant team to alter the setout and design of the ceilings and mechanical services to enable installation.
Hanham & Philp completed all main contractor trades including but not limited to concrete work, precast installation, carpentry and plasterboard linings. We understand this project has been successful for all stakeholders and demonstrates a project successfully co-ordinated around a large adjacent operational facility.
