TOKYO FOODS AT DAKOTA PARK

New purpose-built industrial building for local food distribution tenant to Christchurch International Airport’s Dakota Park development.

This project comprised the construction of a 199m2 office, 2121m2 dry store, 250m2 chiller, 954m2 freezer and 33m2 plant room. The building’s main drystore and freezer slabs were both large post tension construction. Hanham & Philp provided an alternative construction methodology for the freezer post tension slab to incorporate insitu protection kerbs atop the slab to protect the freezer walls in lieu of precast concrete kerbs cast in. This created a simpler construction methodology and resulted in cost savings for the client.

A challenge on this project was the co-ordination of the design and build refrigeration services works for the freezer and cool room. Hanham & Philp worked closely with McAlpine Hussmann to successfully co-ordinate the works across the design disciplines and services interfaces. Hanham & Philp secured this project in a competitive tender and the completion represented another successful outcome in working with the Christchurch International Airport team on projects within Dakota Park.
