SUMNER BOWLING CLUB

Hanham & Philp were selected through a tender process to build this brand new architectural facility for the Sumner Bowling Club.

This was a tightly budget driven project and so required close co-operation by all parties. The premises incorporated changing facilities and storage areas on the ground level with external feature stair and internal lift access to the upper level that contained the function area overlooking the bowling green and kitchen, along with further amenities.

A constant challenge was to ensure the protection of the existing bowling green at all times throughout construction and also being aware of the hazards caused by rockfall to the rear of the site from earlier earthquake activity. A neighbouring site was utilised for our temporary site sheds and also access to the site to avoid access via the green.
