SMOOTH AIR OFFICE & WAREHOUSE

A new warehouse and two-level office building for Smooth Air, to replace their earthquake damaged facility.

The existing damaged building was carefully disconnected from the neighbours building and deconstructed. The presence of asbestos and contaminated ground conditions further complicated both the demolition and subsequent construction of the new building.

With thoughtful site management and close cooperation with our subcontractor, the use of driven timber piles meant all existing fill and concrete foundations were able to be retained under the new building, thus saving the client the considerable costs associated with carting and dumping contaminated fill and concrete to designated disposal sites.
